Implementation started
The aim of the measure is to identify and propose areas in the outer archipelago or on the open sea that may be suitable for fish farming and to determine how fish farming could be practised in such areas while ensuring that important environmental objectives and EU requirements are met. The work includes discussions and consultations with all parties concerned, and it is coordinated with the Utvecklingsplan för Åland (development plan for Åland) project.
Objective of the measure:
The measure seeks to reduce the local effects of fish farming by locating fish farms in more suitable areas and discussing new techniques that minimise emissions. In addition, HELCOM and EU recommendations are complied with. A comprehensive location plan with recommendations will be drawn up.
