There is a great need for inspecting and mapping networks and pumping stations. The measures can be implemented as part of the water and wastewater plan for (Mainland) Åland, but they can also be implemented separately within the water and wastewater sector’s consultation and cooperation group.
Potential legislative measures to enable municipalities to collect fixed water and wastewater charges are discussed. The measure should create better conditions for municipalities to cover the costs relating to sewer networks and wastewater treatment plants. Potential legislative measures to clarify responsibilities and inspection relating to networks and pumping stations are discussed.
