The measure includes:
• Legislation. It is proposed that a new section be included in the Water Act to define the protection instructions for class I and II groundwater protection areas. In the same context, other legislation must also be reviewed.
• Investigations. Some of the class I areas in Mariehamn must be investigated before they can be accepted as groundwater protection areas. In addition, other groundwater areas must be investigated, paying attention to their water-bearing capacity and water quality as well as to the size of the area.
